Hilltown Herbals Shop – explore and order!
Astragalus tincture — Boost your immune response! Prepares and assists the immune system to fight Lyme optimally by raising specific immune markers. (Take doses all summer as prevention or right away when you get bitten) JULY SALE, $5 OFF! (starts in June♥️)
Tick Repellent — A truly effective researched non-toxic tick repellent. Feel safe in the woods! — ticks don’t like this stuff (but it smells nice to humans… woodsy)
Bite Blob — Super effective treatment for tick bite site, with antibacterial & drawing out actions. (Keeps one of our friends from repeated bouts of bite-site cellulitis and urgent care!)
Tick Remover — One of the best, used by outdoor professionals. It is made of very thin metal, with a very narrow “V” giving you the best chance to close the tick’s mouth parts and gently pull the tick off with steady pressure, which prevents the tick from regurgitating pathogens into your body
SOURCING AND MAKING . . .
Our tinctures/extracts are ALL made by hand on site, using herbs sourced from the most reliable companies we can find, usually tested for purity and integrity etc. in the U.S. and sometimes in the country of origin as well. And some herbs are lovingly-grown or foraged locally in the Hilltowns of Western Massachusetts. All herbs are extracted using grain alcohol and usually water, and some tinctures also include glycerin or apple cider vinegar.
~We can make Astragalus capsules (to swap out for comparable dose of Astragalus tincture) if there is interest. Contact us
~Hiking size bite blob (1oz with pro-tick remover) is being considered (at the request of concerned Moms I know whose teenagers are hiking the AT/ Appalachian Trail. Contact us!

LYME DISEASE — We work with folks suffering from Lyme disease, both recent and long-term.
The Buhner approach (which Hilltown Herbals follows) for both recent and chronic/long-term Lyme center around his Core and Extended Symptom protocols in Healing Lyme. Together these evidence-based, researched protocols address all aspects of Lyme disease: endothelial protection, cytokine remodulation, collagen protection and remodulation, immune remodulation and support, physiological protection and restoration, symptom specific treatment, and antispirochetals (with Lyme-specific antibiotic action).
If you work with Hilltown Herbals this is what it usually looks like:
-we provide you with Lyme Core tincture (a tincture blend in a jar, and other herbs in capsule form),
-and also guide you through “Healing Lyme’s” symptom protocols, creating a custom jar of herbal tincture blend geared to your specific symptom set, as needed. (This blend can change to address symptoms as they shift and diminish and healing progresses.)
If you are interested contact us — We offer a free phone consult to you if you are ill and want to explore the Buhner approach (and can pick up your herbs in Western Massachusetts. More below.)
Conventional medical treatment of long-term Lyme disease (and other tick-borne illnesses), has been sadly inadequate (and often denied) for the decades in which Lyme has been ravaging people’s lives. Many are STILL being told there is nothing wrong with them and what they are experiencing is all in their head.
But a cautious, though ground-breaking, report by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) came out in May 2025 noting these weaknesses in medical treatment, and suggesting some forward moment.
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) recently published “Charting a Path Toward New Treatments for Lyme Infection-Associated Chronic Illnesses” their long-awaited report on chronic Lyme disease admits the near total inadequacy of conventional medical treatment, stating that long term use of antibiotics is ineffective, and research too siloed, leading to almost no information on ANY treatment besides (ineffective) repeated rounds of antibiotics.
~“Thus far, limited research has suggested that 10%-20% of the approximately 476,000 patients who contract Lyme disease each year develop persistent symptoms after standard antibiotic treatment, the NASEM report said.” (Christine Kilgore, Medscape, 6/10/25, covering: “Charting a Path Toward New Treatments for Lyme Infection-Associated Chronic Illnesses” NASEM, May, 2025)
~No available treatments have been validated as safe and effective for the long-term debilitating symptoms, partially because research has focused almost exclusively on antibiotic therapies. Which have not been markedly effective. (NASEM news release 5/8/25 quoted in Medscape, June 10, 2025)
~“Testing interventions that act on symptoms as opposed to [waiting for an understanding of] pathogenic mechanisms is the most efficient approach to identifying treatments [that can] help patients living with [chronic Lyme] find relief,” NASEM Committee Chair Kent Kester, MD, said. Medscape article. Wow.
~The Director of the Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases Research Center at Columbia even said, in response to the report, “Herbals…can be helpful,” in recovering from [chronic Lyme disease]. (Brian A. Fallon, MD)
OTHER TICK-BORNE ILLNESSES— Bartonella, Mycoplasma, Anaplasma, Babesia and Ehrlichia —
Buhner wrote two additional books (click on illness-specific links above) addressing tick-borne illnesses, with core and symptom-specific protocols. We work with these diseases as well, offering guidance and herbal remedies specific to the particular disease and your symptom set. Contact us for more information.
CONSULTATIONS AND GUIDANCE with Hilltown Herbals . . .
Generally, when we work directly with people, guiding them on the herbal protocols for Lyme disease for example, they live in the vicinity of Western Massachusetts, and orders are picked up here. But, in some cases, we may be able to ship orders to you AFTER your initial visit.
So, understanding that, if you are interested in talking with us about herbal healing of Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses, (or Herbal Antibiotics and Herbal Antivirals from other Buhner books) feel free to contact us.
(Again, we will need to meet in Western MA at least once if you decide to work with Hilltown Herbals.)
TESTIMONIALS🤎
“Hilltown Herbals helped me with chronic Lyme and co-infections. Her practice is centered around helping people navigate and providing all of the remedies for the Buhner protocol. It was [challenging…] but it did the job. (She) understood how hard it is to figure out on one’s own with chronic brain fog. She also tries to keep the prices as reasonable as she can. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”
— A person who suffered from more than one tick-borne illnesses at the same time… and recovered!
“For more than a decade, I lived with debilitating symptoms from chronic neurological Lyme disease and multiple tick-borne co-infections (Bartonella, Babesia, Ehrlichia and Mycoplasma).
After years of conventional treatments that provided little lasting relief, I was fortunate to find Hilltown Herbals. She takes the time to truly understand my unique symptom experience and creates individualized herbal remedies tailored to my needs. She is responsive, compassionate, and deeply committed to holistic healing.
Thanks to her expertise with the Buhner protocol and her personalized approach, I have gone from years of chronic illness and uncertainty to living symptom-free.
Her care has been truly life-changing, and I cannot recommend her highly enough.”
